If I order a resume with ResumeGuru, what is included?
We will provide you with a new, personalized resume in Word format as well as some tips for interviewing and a personalized detailed evaluation of your past resume. Personalization of your resume requires that you actively participate in our interview process. If you do not provide us with enough information, we will not be able to optimize your resume effectively. It is therefore important that you spend sufficient amount of time answering each one of interview questions as thoroughly as possible.
If I order a cover letter with ResumeGuru, what is included?
We will provide you with a new, personalized cover letter in Word format as well as some tips for interviewing. Personalization of your cover letter requires that you actively participate in our interview process. If you do not provide us with enough information, we will not be able to optimize your cover letter effectively. It is therefore important that you spend sufficient amount of time answering each one of interview questions as thoroughly as possible.
I want a catch-all / do-all resume. Can you do it?
Given the extremely high level of competition in the job market currently, we do not recommend this route. If your resume is not a precise match to the job posting, there is a fairly good chance that someone else's is and so you will most likely not be considered for an interview. Could we create a do-all resume? Of course we could, but it would ultimately be a disservice to our customers. We personalize each resume to each applicant and more importantly we customize each resume to fit the job posting. That is from where our results come.
I just ordered my resume / cover letter, what do I do next?
1) Please wait for us to process your order. Processing may take as little as 2 hours up to 3 days depending on your method of payment. Once your payment has been deemed successful, we will email you a set of instructions. From the results of these instructions, we will be able assign you to an appropriate expert.
2) Using the instructions, submit a copy of your resumes/CVs, cover letters and samples of job/career postings that you're interested in using the instructions we've provided to your email address.
3) Let your assigned ResumeGuru expert interview you about the details specific to your needs and the needs of your desired job industry.
4) Receive your professionally rewritten resume, cover letter and/or other documents by email.
My friends got the same "free evaluation" response as me. How do I know this isn't a bogus, canned response?
It is entirely possible that you receive the same evaluation as your colleagues. Colleagues often review their resumes together and will think in the same manner, resulting in a structurally similar style of resume writing. We have our specialists evaluate your resume against our customized checklist of key points needed to have an exceptional resume. We will list as many points as are applicable against your particular resume regardless of what others receive.
Where's my discount? I thought there was a special going on!
Discounted amounts are applied 10-15 business days after an order has been successfully processed. Discounts are NOT observed at the time of purchase. Discounts are issued in the form of partial refunds. If you participated in a qualifying sales event, you will receive a notice for a credit back directly to you from ResumeGuru.
I won / received a free resume / cover letter bundle but I don't need it, can I get money back instead?
No, any prizes won, free service issued or donated have $0 monetary value and cannot be exchanged for cash. We suggest you donate your prize to someone else who may benefit from it instead.
In what format should I submit my documents?
We accept only non-executable text based formats: .TXT, .RTF and .DOC. All other formats will be rejected.
I want my newly written resume/cover letter in PDF format, can you do it?
We provide our services in .DOC and .DOCX format only. Customers can download a free PDF printing tool called CutePDF (http://www.cutepdf.com) in order to print their Word documents to PDF format.
What's does ResumeGuru guarantee exactly?
Plain and simple, our guarantee is to provide you with quality documents that will help you obtain an interview. All you have to do is make sure you do your job applications (at least 3 per day).
Where do I upload my documents?
Once your order and payment have been successfully processed, we send you a second email with upload instructions. Payment processing may take up to 48 hours after order submission.
I can't upload my documents even though the formats are correct. What do I do?
The maximum size of the submitted documents must be less than 1 MB in total. You can verify the size of your documents prior to sending using your computer's file managing system. Another possible reason might be that you have a firewall or other networking barrier preventing you from uploading. In this case, please contact your administrator or internet service provider.
Can I place a single order for multiple resumes for different people?
Yes.
How long does the rewrite process take?
In most cases, the end-to-end process takes anywhere between 2 to 4 days to complete. Factors that may delay this process beyond these typical limits include:
- Member not completing the interview in a timely manner
- Member sending in documents for 2+ people with a single order
- Improper format, infection or corruption of member submitted documents
- Spelling mistakes in a member's submitted documents
- Member's having difficulty expressing themselves in written English as a second language
- Conflicting or falsified information identified during the interview process
- Payment processing time due to insufficient funds or flagged payment accounts
- Member's email box is too full and causes ResumeGuru email to be rejected.
However, in all cases of processing difficulty, we will notify the affected customer to rectify the situation and expedite the process. That's why it is important for customers to include both email and telephone number during order processing. The customer is expected to complete the interview process within 14 calendar days after which point ResumeGuru reserves the right to perform the rewrite process with whatever information is currently available. By not participating actively in the interview process, the customer agrees to invalidate the money-back guarantee.
Why is there a shipping fee?
This is actually a shipping and handling fee. We need to create and configure a profile on our system in order to optimize document processing. When we're done rewriting your documents, we send you a both a physical copy on disc as well as a print-out so you can use your documents immediately.
Why do I need to submit my references / contacts?
A resume is not complete until it contains your actual references and each of their respective contact information. We want you to be ready for a job application as soon as your resume / cover letter is complete so we insist that all of our customers prepare this information in advance. Companies have rejected candidates that made it through their screening process because the candidates references were falsified, incomplete or simply submitted too late. Please add your contact information when requested by ResumeGuru. Contact information must include:
- Company name
- Contact name / Division name
- Contact / Division email
- Contact / Division telephone number
- Contact / Division fax number
- Company address
Please note ResumeGuru has no intention of contacting your previous or current employer.
Can I order a resume or cover letter for someone else as a gift?
Absolutely! Just include a note upon checkout that indicates its a gift and include the recipient's name, email address and phone number. Note that if you place an order with us and it is "given" to another person, that order is no longer eligible for refund once processing of the order has begun. In this instance "processing" of the order means that access to ResumeGuru online/offline resources/personnel OR document rewriting has begun.
I don't have an email address, can I still order a resume with ResumeGuru?
Unfortunately, participation in ResumeGuru services requires that you have a valid email address. You may obtain a free email account through Google, Yahoo, Hotmail or AOL.
How do I know ResumeGuru is a legitimate company?
We are accredited by the National Writer's Union and registered with the state of Washington.
I just got an email from you guys. Why do I have to pay a negligence reassessment fee?
When we sent you the original instructions to give us detailed information, you only completed 70% or less of the interview. As such, we will have to reset everything in order to re-procure your information. If you refuse to provide us with the rich detail necessary to rewrite your resume, we will invalidate your money-back guarantee on the basis of negligence. By paying the negligence reassessment fee, you ensure that you are re-attempting to provide the right information by filling out as much information as possible and so maintain your money-back guarantee.
Are there any limitations to what ResumeGuru will rewrite on my resume?
Yes. We reserve the right to only handle your last 6 positions OR your positions that have taken place in the last 10 years. We may choose either scenario at our own discretion.
I don't live in the US. Can you localize my resume to suit my native country?
Unfortunately, no. We only provide resumes according to US format. However, because of the comprehensive nature of our resume writing style, customers can very easily convert our documents into the preferred localized format.
Who is writing/reviewing my resume?
All of our reviewers and technical writers are US-based though they have all undergone training for various resume / CV styles worldwide.
How does ResumeGuru protect and store my personal information?
Throughout this policy, we use the term "personal information" to describe information that can be associated with a specific person and can be used to identify that person. We do not consider personal information to include information that has been anonymized so that it does not identify a specific user.
We store and process your personal information on our computers in the US, and we protect it by maintaining physical, electronic and procedural safeguards in compliance with applicable US federal and state regulations. We use computer safeguards such as firewalls and data encryption, we enforce physical access controls to our buildings and files, and we authorize access to personal information only for those employees who require it to fulfill their job responsibilities.
How does ResumeGuru use the personal information collected?
Our primary purpose in collecting personal information is to provide you with a secure, smooth, efficient, and customized experience. We may use your personal information to:
- provide the services and customer support you request;
- process transactions and send notices about your transactions
- resolve disputes, collect fees, and troubleshoot problems;
- prevent potentially prohibited or illegal activities, and enforce our User Agreement;
- customize, measure, and improve our services and the content and layout of our website;
- send you targeted marketing, service update notices, and promotional offers based on your communication preferences;
- compare information for accuracy and verify it with third parties.
How does ResumeGuru share personal information with other parties?
We may share your personal information with:
- Service providers under contract who help with parts of our business operations; (fraud prevention, bill collection, marketing, technology services). Our contracts dictate that these service providers only use your information in connection with the services they perform for us and not for their own benefit.
- Banking partners as required by credit card association rules for inclusion on their list of terminated merchants (in the event that you meet their criteria which includes having ResumeGuru close your ResumeGuru Account due to your breach of the ResumeGuru legal agreement).
- Companies that we plan to merge with or be acquired by. (Should such a combination occur, we will require that the new combined entity follow this privacy policy with respect to your personal information. If your personal information could be used contrary to this policy, you will receive prior notice.)
- Law enforcement, government officials, or other third parties when
* we are compelled to do so by a subpoena, court order or similar legal procedure
* we need to do so to comply with law
* we believe in good faith that the disclosure of personal information is necessary to prevent physical harm or financial loss, to report suspected illegal activity, or to investigate violations of our User Agreement.
- Other third parties with your consent or direction to do so.
ResumeGuru will not sell or rent any of your personal information to third parties for their marketing purposes and only shares your personal information with third parties as described in this policy.
If you open a ResumeGuru account directly on a third party website or application, any information that you enter on that website or application (and not directly on a ResumeGuru website) will be shared with the owner of the third party website or application.
- Accepting or partaking in any free service offered by ResumeGuru means that your submitted documents will become the sole property of ResumeGuru / UrbanVine LLC and may be used partially or wholly in promotional materials and/or activies.
How do I unsubscribe from your mailing list?

My ResumeGuru account has expired. How do I reactivate it?
You must:
1) Notify ResumeGuru in writing by replying to the email associated with your purchase transaction that you would like to reactivate your account has it has expired due to negligence on your part.
2) Go to our account reset page and pay to reactivate your account.
If you choose not to reactivate your account, and you are expecting to receive a document rewrite from us, we reserve the right to rewrite your documents with whatever information we have on-hand that you have provided in order to complete your order. Under these circumstances, you forgo your guarantee in full and will not be eligible for a refund.
In all cases, ResumeGuru will do its best to ensure that you receive documents that are high in quality and that will increase your chances at job application success.
I'm not available for the entire duration of the Renovate interview process. Can I get a free extension?
If you haven't started the interview process yet and your online account has not yet been created, then we can delay the creation of your online account until you are available. However, once your account is activated and made available to you, the deadline is set. At that point once the account is deactivated, the only way to extend it is by reactivating it here.
What is your refund policy for resumes and cover letters?
The only service we offer that is refundable is "Renovate" (all other service are not refundable). Refunds prior to document delivery is NOT possible even if you have not begun the interview process. You must complete the entire interview prior to being eligible for refund.
You are eligible for refund up any time between 90 and 365 days after having received your document package from ResumeGuru based on the following conditions:
- You completed your interview within 15 days of placing your order.
- You are both the person who purchased the service AND are the one providing ResumeGuru with your documentation for rewrite.
- You must have provided copies of your original resume, your original cover letter and a verbatim copy of an existing online job/career posting (for which you wished to apply and for which there was at least an 85% similarity with your skills, work-related background and/or educational background) prior to the start of the interview process.
- You must have completed the entire interview process (without requesting account deactivation) and received your completed documents.
- You must have documented proof of job applications and consequent correspondences to at least different 350 positions from at least 125 different companies per month for a minimum of 3 months and have received less than 1 telephone, email and/or in-person interview per 30 days.
- You must have documentation of the contact information (i.e. telephone number and direct hiring department email address) from the companies to which you applied.
- You must have documentation for all of your telephone and in-person interviews.
- You must apply the free guidelines provided to you in your applications.
- Each job application must contain a cover letter and a resume, both of which must be absolutely devoid of typographical errors.
- Your local US government career placement assistance agency representative must deem your original resume to be superior to the one personalized for you from ResumeGuru.
- You have found more than 85% word-for-word similarity between your resume and/or cover letter with that of another person.
- You must be eligible to work in the US.
- You must request and fill out our refund form
- You must send physical copies of the documentation for the above requirements for assessment no later than 365 after receiving assistance from ResumeGuru to: 301 Minor Ave N, Suite 717, Seattle, WA, 98109.
Please note that all refunds applying only to the purchase price of the items and are also subject to a per item assessment fee. There is no refund for shipping and/or handling fees. Refund processing may take up to 3 months after all documentation has been received and your case evaluated.

Please note it is possible for customers to invalidate their own money-back guarantee! Take as much time as you need to do each questionnaire. Do not repeat information from your existing resume else the results of your new resume will not be much better than your current resume. If 25% or more of your interview answers use excessive jargon, acronyms, fragmented and/or incomplete sentences, incomprehensible spelling errors or incomplete answers (such as but not necessarily limited to "not applicable", "I don’t know what this means", "N/A", "dunno", "see/check/view resume", "see/check/view cover letter"), you agree to allow us to rewrite your resume and you agree to forgo the money-back guarantee on your purchase due to lack of participation on your part, else be subject to a negligence reset fee of 3$ per survey requiring to be redone in order to maintain your money-back guarantee. If you have language difficulties understanding the questions during the interview process, please email us and we will be happy to explain the questions in more detail. At all times, you must treat your assigned expert with mutual respect. Any form of written/verbal abuse is absolutely unacceptable and engaging in such behaviour will IMMEDIATELY annul your money-back guarantee.
